2-1-22 - Appeal to Heaven pt.2

Updated: Apr 14, 2023

Tonight I was at life group with some wonderful people who are part of my church. I was talking with my pastor about the Appeal to Heaven flag. (See journal entry Jan 3rd) My pastor asked me “Do you know when that flag was first flown?” I responded that it was with George Washington in 1775. “Not exactly” he said, going on to tell me how the flag was originally flown in 1772 during the Pine Tree Riots. These riots were held to fight the idea of the King restricting their access to trees in NH. The origin of this idea “Appel to Heaven’ came about in the heart of NH. Even more so, this restricted forest was in Wolfeboro. The connections are never ending.
